So when what is arguably the strongest of the DCEU movies is more like a marvel film it is worrying that they may continue to follow the marvel path rather than get what they have been aiming for right.
To explain my headline, the DCEU has tried to take a darker, more gritty approach than the MCU and while the movies haven't been great for the most part I've appreciated the different approach.

It does veer into overly cheesy family drama but never so much as the flash TV show. It's genuinely funny and a touch to heart warming. The cast all do a decent job in their roles, the effects are generally decent. It's kind of fitting given that the titular hero is a young teenager with the physique of an adult. As a result of this the tone is a bit mixed, one minute it seems aimed at a younger audience and the next reads are being bitten off and there's gags about strip clubs.

Shazam mixes heart, comedy and action pretty well and if I'm honest, almost seems more like a marvel movie than a DC one as the DCEU has been going for a more grimdark epic vibe and here we have a goofy kids superhero movie wearing grown up clothes. Aquaman was good but felt a bit over long. Sure wonder woman was good but dragged on a little and the end battle was pretty much a mediocre CGI smackdown. Probably the most consistently enjoyable of the DCEU movies. The headline might suggest I didn't like this film but I can hand on heart say it was thoroughly enjoyable.
